Asthma is a condition that does not have a total cure and therefore the treatment that is given is usually but a control measure. This enables a proper handling of a patients condition from getting any worse. Asthma is prevented only when one has known the cause of the condition. The causes could be anything from hereditary, colds, viral infections, smoking and environmental pollution being the most common causes.

Hereditary causes cannot be prevented as this runs in the family. Colds which usually occur because of chilly weather are also at times inevitable. Therefore, for one to avoid colds, one should keep warm during this type of weather. Warm clothing prevents cold from getting into the lungs. Cold irritate the airways that transport air in and out of the lungs. When this airways swell the air cannot pass normally and is therefore insufficient the body.

Asthma can also be prevented by taking care of one’s surroundings. In the cases of a working environment that could probably be dealing with toxic chemicals, proper protection gear should be used to prevent one from inhaling the toxic chemicals.

Asthma is also caused by smoking. Therefore smoking is a risk to one’s health and one can only be exposing himself to this condition. Thus smoking should be avoided especially for pregnant mother who could not only be at risk but also exposing the unborn baby to the same risk. Allergies can also cause asthma these are also unavoidable but can be controlled by treatment from further occurrence.
